Ask Anything is ConvertMate's conversational AI assistant that can answer questions about your marketing, suggest strategies, and help you understand your data without needing to run formal agents.

What Ask Anything can do

Think of Ask Anything as having an experienced marketing consultant available 24/7. You can ask:

Strategy questions - "What content should I create to improve SEO for my fitness products?" Data interpretation - "Why did my traffic drop last week?" Best practices - "What's a good meta description length for e-commerce products?" Platform help - "How do I connect Google Analytics 4 to ConvertMate?" Agent recommendations - "Which agent should I use to improve product descriptions?" Tactical advice - "What keywords should I target for my yoga mat category?"

The AI has context about your connected platforms and can provide personalized suggestions based on your specific situation.

Accessing Ask Anything

To start a conversation:

  1. Log in to your ConvertMate account
  2. Click AI Agents in the left sidebar
  3. Select Ask Anything from the submenu
  4. Type your question in the input field

You can also access Ask Anything from most pages in ConvertMate using the quick action menu or keyboard shortcut.

How to ask good questions

The more specific your question, the better the answer you'll get:

Instead of: "How do I improve SEO?" Try: "How can I improve SEO for my Shopify store selling outdoor gear?" Instead of: "My sales are down." Try: "My product page views increased 20% but sales dropped 10%. What might be causing this?" Instead of: "What should I do next?" Try: "I've connected Shopify and Google Search Console. What's the first agent I should run to improve visibility?"

Include relevant context like:

  • Your industry or product category
  • What platforms you have connected
  • Recent changes you've made
  • Specific metrics you're concerned about
  • What you've already tried

Understanding the responses

Ask Anything provides:

Direct answers - Clear, actionable information in plain language. Context and reasoning - Not just what to do, but why it matters and how it works. Specific suggestions - Concrete next steps you can take immediately. Agent recommendations - Which ConvertMate agents can help with your specific situation. Links to resources - Help articles, platform connections, or relevant pages in ConvertMate. Follow-up questions - The AI might ask clarifying questions to give you better advice.

Conversation context

Ask Anything remembers your conversation history during a session, so you can ask follow-up questions:

You: "How do I optimize product titles for SEO?" AI: [Provides detailed answer about title optimization] You: "What about collections?" AI: [Knows you're asking about collection titles for SEO]

This context resets when you start a new conversation, so each conversation is independent.

Using Ask Anything with your data

When Ask Anything analyzes your actual data, it can provide personalized insights:

With platforms connected: "Looking at your Google Search Console data, I see you're ranking on page 2 for 'organic cotton t-shirts.' Here's how to improve that..." With execution history: "Based on your past agent runs, I notice you optimize product descriptions but haven't tried SEO audits yet. That could help because..." With usage patterns: "Your top-performing products all have descriptions over 200 words. You might want to expand descriptions for products converting below 2%."

The more platforms you connect and the more you use ConvertMate, the more personalized Ask Anything's suggestions become.

When to use Ask Anything vs. formal agents

Use Ask Anything when you:
  • Need quick advice or clarification
  • Want to explore options before committing credits
  • Need help understanding data or results
  • Want to learn best practices
  • Aren't sure which agent to use
  • Need troubleshooting help
Use formal agents when you:
  • Want to actually execute a task (optimize products, generate content, etc.)
  • Need detailed analysis of your entire site or catalog
  • Want automated, repeatable processes
  • Need to apply changes to your platforms
  • Want scheduled, recurring tasks

Ask Anything helps you plan and understand. Agents help you execute and automate.

Credit usage

Ask Anything has different credit models depending on your plan:

Free plan - 10 questions per month at no credit cost Starter plan and above - Unlimited questions, no credit cost for basic queries Complex analysis requests - If you ask Ask Anything to analyze large datasets or generate extensive content, that may cost credits (you'll be notified before any credits are used)

Simple questions like "How do I connect Shopify?" or "What does this metric mean?" never cost credits regardless of plan.

Limitations

Ask Anything is powerful but has some limitations:

Cannot execute agents - It can recommend agents but can't run them for you. You still need to click "Run agent" yourself. Cannot access external sites - It can't browse your live website or competitors' sites directly. Cannot change settings - It can tell you how to change something but can't modify your account settings. Real-time data only - It works with the data ConvertMate has already synced. It can't pull new real-time data from your platforms. No platform access - It can't log in to your Shopify, Google, or other accounts to check things for you.

If you need any of these capabilities, you'll need to use the appropriate agent or platform connection.

Privacy and data

What Ask Anything can see:
  • Your connected platforms and their data
  • Your agent execution history
  • Your account settings and plan
  • Your team and workspace configuration
What Ask Anything cannot see:
  • Your password or authentication credentials
  • Payment information or credit card details
  • Private conversations with support
  • Data from platforms you haven't connected
How your questions are used:
  • Questions are processed to provide answers
  • Conversation history is stored to improve responses during your session
  • Aggregate, anonymized data may be used to improve the AI
  • Individual conversations are never shared with other users

Getting better answers

If an answer isn't helpful:

Ask for clarification - "Can you explain that in simpler terms?" or "What specifically should I do first?" Provide more context - Add details about your situation, industry, or what you've already tried. Be more specific - Instead of broad questions, focus on one specific aspect. Ask follow-ups - Use the conversation to dig deeper: "Why is that important?" or "What's an example?" Request alternatives - "Are there other ways to approach this?" or "What if I don't have that platform connected?"

  • You: "My products aren't showing up in Google. What should I check first?"
  • AI: "Let's check a few things. First, do you have Google Search Console connected to ConvertMate?"
  • You: "Yes, it's connected."

Strategy planning:
  • You: "I want to create more content but don't know where to start."
  • AI: "What type of products do you sell and who's your target audience?"

Agent selection:
