Managing and optimizing products

View product analytics, optimize content, and track product performance

The products section gives you a complete view of your product catalog with performance analytics, AI-powered optimization tools, and tracking capabilities to improve your product pages for better conversions and search rankings.

Accessing products

To view your products:

  1. Click Content Hub in the left sidebar
  2. Select Products from the menu
  3. You'll see a table of all products synced from your e-commerce platform

The products view requires you to connect an e-commerce platform like Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or Adobe Commerce first.

Understanding the products table

The products table shows key information at a glance:

Product name - Title of the product as it appears on your store Traffic (30 days) - Visitors to the product page in the last 30 days, with trend indicator showing whether traffic is increasing or decreasing Revenue (30 days) - Sales generated by this product in the last 30 days, with trend indicator Conversion rate - Percentage of visitors who purchase, with comparison to your store average Status - Whether daily tracking is enabled for this product Actions - Quick access to optimization tools and detailed analytics

Filtering and searching products

Use the filters at the top to find specific products:

Search - Type product name or SKU to find products quickly Traffic filter - Show only products with traffic above or below a certain threshold
  • Minimum traffic: Find products getting at least X visitors
  • Maximum traffic: Find products with traffic below X
Revenue filter - Filter by revenue performance
  • Minimum revenue: Products generating at least $X
  • Maximum revenue: Products generating less than $X
Sort options - Click column headers to sort by:
  • Product name (alphabetically)
  • Traffic (highest or lowest first)
  • Revenue (highest or lowest first)
  • Conversion rate (best or worst performing)

These filters help you identify which products need attention and which are performing well.

Viewing product details

Click any product to open its detail page, which shows:

Performance overview

Traffic trends - Graph showing visitors over time Revenue trends - Sales performance over time Conversion funnel - How many visitors view, add to cart, and purchase Traffic sources - Where visitors come from (search, social, direct, etc.) Device breakdown - Desktop vs mobile performance Top keywords - Search terms that bring traffic to this product

Product information

Current content - Title, description, meta title, meta description Images - All product images Pricing - Regular price, sale price, variants Inventory - Stock status and quantity Categories - Which categories this product belongs to

Optimization opportunities

Content score - AI assessment of your product content quality (0-100) Improvement suggestions - Specific recommendations to improve the product page SEO score - How well optimized this product is for search engines Target keywords - Keywords you should be targeting with this product

Refreshing product data

To sync the latest data from your e-commerce platform:

  1. Click Refresh products at the top of the products page
  2. Wait while ConvertMate syncs with your store
  3. The table updates with current product information
When to refresh:
  • After adding new products to your store
  • After making significant changes to existing products
  • If data seems outdated
  • To ensure accurate analytics before running optimization

Refresh typically takes 2-5 minutes depending on your catalog size.

Product IQ analysis

Product IQ is a comprehensive AI analysis of individual products that provides deep insights and optimization recommendations.

To run Product IQ:
  1. Find the product you want to analyze
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the Actions column
  3. Select Product IQ Check
  4. Review the credit cost (50 credits)
  5. Click Run analysis
What Product IQ analyzes: Content quality - Assesses title, description, and meta data for SEO and conversion optimization Keyword targeting - Identifies which keywords you should target and whether your current content targets them effectively Competitive analysis - Compares your product to similar products in your niche Image optimization - Evaluates product images for quality and SEO Pricing strategy - Analyzes pricing compared to market and competition Technical SEO - Checks URL structure, schema markup, and technical elements User experience - Evaluates page structure and usability Mobile optimization - Checks mobile-specific issues and opportunities Conversion optimization - Identifies elements that might be hurting conversions Search visibility - Assesses how well this product might rank in search results Analysis time: 3-5 minutes per product Cost: 50 credits per analysis

After analysis completes, you'll see a detailed report with:

  • Overall product score
  • Section-by-section breakdown
  • Specific recommendations
  • Priority level for each recommendation
  • Estimated impact of improvements

You can export the Product IQ report as PDF or share it via email with team members.

AI search visibility check

The AI search visibility check tests whether your product appears when users ask AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for product recommendations. As more shoppers use AI to research purchases, being mentioned by AI platforms becomes increasingly important for product discovery.

To run an AI search check:
  1. Go to the product analytics page for any product
  2. Click the AI Search tab
  3. Click Start AI search check
  4. Choose how many queries to test (1-10, default: 5)
  5. Select which AI platforms to test (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity)
  6. Review and optionally edit the generated queries
  7. Confirm and start the check
How query count works:

The system generates commercial intent queries based on your product. You can choose to test:

  • 1 query - Quick spot check (minimum 5 credits)
  • 5 queries - Recommended for most products (default)
  • 10 queries - Comprehensive coverage (maximum)

More queries provide better coverage of how customers might search for your product, but cost more credits.

How platform selection works:

You can test on one, two, or all three platforms:

  • ChatGPT - Most widely used AI assistant
  • Gemini - Google's AI with web search integration
  • Perplexity - AI-powered search engine

Testing all three platforms gives the most complete picture but costs more credits.

Credit calculation:

Cost = queries × platforms × 5 credits per test

Examples:

  • 5 queries on all 3 platforms = 75 credits
  • 5 queries on 2 platforms = 50 credits
  • 1 query on 1 platform = 5 credits

The exact cost is calculated and shown before you start the check.

What gets tested:

The system generates commercial intent queries like:

  • "Best [product type] for [use case]"
  • "Where to buy [product category]"
  • "Top [product type] recommendations"
  • Product comparison queries
  • Problem-solution queries

You can review and edit these queries before running the check.

Analysis time: 2-3 minutes for most checks Results show:
  • Overall visibility score (0-100)
  • How many queries mentioned your product
  • Results for each platform tested
  • Query-by-query breakdown
  • Competitor mentions
  • Specific recommendations to improve AI visibility
When to run checks:
  • After launching a new product
  • After major content updates
  • Monthly for key products
  • When competitors appear to dominate AI results
  • Before seasonal promotions
Email notifications:

You'll receive an email when the check completes with:

  • Overall score summary
  • Mention count
  • Link to view full results

This lets you start a check and continue working without waiting for results.

Optimizing product content

After running Product IQ or from the product detail page, you can optimize specific content fields:

Individual field optimization

Title optimization (3 credits):
  1. Click Optimize title on the product detail page
  2. AI generates an improved version considering SEO and conversion
  3. Review the suggested title
  4. See the reasoning for changes
  5. Edit if needed
  6. Click Apply to update your product
Description optimization (3 credits):
  1. Click Optimize description
  2. AI rewrites the description for better SEO and persuasion
  3. Review suggested description with side-by-side comparison
  4. Edit the suggestion if you want to adjust it
  5. Apply to update your product
Meta title optimization (3 credits):
  1. Click Optimize meta title
  2. AI creates SEO-optimized meta title under 60 characters
  3. Review and apply
Meta description optimization (3 credits):
  1. Click Optimize meta description
  2. AI creates compelling meta description under 160 characters
  3. Review and apply

Each optimization shows:

  • Original content
  • Suggested improved version
  • AI reasoning for changes
  • Confidence score
  • Character count (for meta fields)

You can edit suggestions before applying them, combining AI intelligence with your brand knowledge.

Daily tracking

Daily tracking monitors products for performance changes and alerts you to issues or opportunities:

To enable daily tracking:
  1. Find the product in the products table
  2. Click Enable tracking in the Status column
  3. Confirm you want to enable it (2 credits per day)
What daily tracking monitors:
  • Traffic increases or decreases
  • Revenue changes
  • Conversion rate fluctuations
  • Keyword ranking changes
  • New review activity
  • Stock level changes
  • Price changes
Alerts you'll receive:
  • Significant traffic drops (potential technical issue)
  • Sudden traffic spikes (trending product)
  • Conversion rate drops (potential page issue)
  • Keyword ranking improvements or declines
  • Inventory running low

Daily tracking costs 2 credits per product per day, so enable it for your most important products or products you want to monitor closely.

To disable tracking:

Click Disable tracking in the Status column. You'll stop receiving alerts and credit charges.

Generating target keywords

Let AI research the best keywords to target for each product:

  1. Go to product detail page
  2. Click Generate target keywords
  3. AI analyzes the product and market
  4. Costs 3 credits
  5. Results show:

- Primary keywords to target - Secondary keywords - Long-tail opportunities - Search volume for each - Keyword difficulty - Current ranking (if any)

Use these keywords when optimizing your product title, description, and meta fields.

Generating insights

Get quick AI-powered insights about a product:

  1. Go to product detail page
  2. Click Generate insights
  3. Costs 5 credits
  4. AI provides:

- Performance assessment - Quick win opportunities - Competitive positioning - Pricing recommendations - Content suggestions - Risk factors to address

This is faster and cheaper than full Product IQ but provides less detail. Use it for quick checks or when you need specific guidance.

Bulk operations

For optimizing multiple products at once:

Batch content optimization:
  1. Go to Content Hub → Content suggestions
  2. Click Create optimization batch
  3. Select products to optimize
  4. Choose which fields (title, description, meta title, meta description)
  5. Set optimization focus (SEO, conversion, readability)
  6. Review credit estimate
  7. Start batch

The system generates suggestions for all selected products, which you can review and apply individually or in bulk.

Exporting product data

To export product analytics:

  1. Apply any filters you want
  2. Click Export to CSV at the top
  3. Choose what to include:

- Product information - Performance metrics - Tracking status

  1. Download the CSV file

Use exports for:

  • Reporting to stakeholders
  • Analysis in spreadsheets
  • Comparing time periods
  • Sharing with team members

Product variants

Products with variants (size, color, etc.) are handled as follows:

Table view - Shows parent product with aggregated metrics across all variants Detail view - Shows variant breakdown with individual performance Optimization - You can optimize parent-level content or variant-specific content Tracking - Daily tracking applies to all variants together Analytics - View performance by variant to see which options sell best

Best practices

Start with high-traffic products - These have the most impact on your business, so optimize them first. Use Product IQ strategically - It costs 50 credits, so run it on products where you suspect issues or want deep insights, not every product. Enable tracking for key products - Track your best sellers, new products, or seasonal items. Don't track everything unless you have credits to spare. Review suggestions before applying - AI is good but not perfect. Make sure suggestions match your brand voice and are factually correct. Optimize during off-peak hours - If applying changes directly to your store, do it when traffic is lower to minimize impact if something goes wrong. Export regular reports - Track progress by exporting metrics monthly to see long-term trends. Act on insights - Product IQ and insights are only valuable if you implement the recommendations.

Troubleshooting

Products not appearing

If your products aren't showing up:

  • Verify your e-commerce platform is connected
  • Click Refresh products to sync
  • Check that products are published (not draft) in your store
  • Wait up to 10 minutes after connecting a new platform
  • Contact support if products still don't appear

Analytics data missing

If products show but have no traffic/revenue data:

  • Connect Google Analytics 4 for traffic data
  • Ensure GA4 tracking is installed on your store
  • Wait 48 hours after connecting GA4 for data to populate
  • Very new products may not have data yet

Optimization not applying

If applied changes don't appear on your store:

  • Check that ConvertMate has write permissions to your platform
  • Verify the connection is active
  • Try manually refreshing the product in your store admin
  • Some platforms cache content - clear your cache
  • Contact support if changes consistently fail to apply
