No, unused monthly credits do not roll over to the next month. Credits included in your subscription plan reset on your billing date and any unused credits from the previous month expire.
How monthly credits work
Credit allocation
Each plan includes a monthly credit allocation:
- Free plan: 100 credits per month
- Starter plan: 300 credits per month
- Growth plan: 1,200 credits per month
- Business plan: 5,000 credits per month
These credits renew automatically on the same day each month (your billing date).
Credit expiration
On your billing date:- Unused credits from the previous month expire
- Your balance resets to your plan's monthly allocation
- You cannot accumulate credits across months
- You have the Growth plan (1,200 credits per month)
- Billing date is the 15th
- On January 15th, you get 1,200 credits
- You use 800 credits during January
- On February 15th, the remaining 400 credits expire
- Your balance resets to 1,200 credits for February
Why credits don't roll over
The no-rollover policy exists because:
- Monthly subscriptions provide predictable, recurring value
- Plans are priced based on expected monthly usage
- Rolling over credits would create unlimited accumulation
- It encourages consistent usage of the platform
- Similar to gym memberships or other subscription services
Credit packages vs monthly credits
There's an important distinction:
Monthly subscription credits
Do NOT roll over:- Credits included in Free, Starter, Growth, or Business plans
- Reset every month on billing date
- Cannot be accumulated
Purchased credit packages
Do NOT expire (for 12 months):- Credit packages you purchase separately
- Valid for 12 months from purchase date
- Can be used alongside subscription credits
- Remain available even if you cancel subscription
- You have Growth plan (1,200 credits per month)
- You purchase a 500-credit package in January
- Subscription credits renew monthly (don't roll over)
- Purchased 500 credits remain until January next year
- They don't expire each month like subscription credits
Maximizing your monthly credits
Since credits don't roll over, here's how to get the most value:
Plan ahead
Track your usage:- Check Settings → Credit usage to see spending patterns
- Monitor credit balance in the top navigation
- Set up usage alerts (Settings → Notifications)
- Understand which agents cost how many credits
- Plan agent runs throughout the month
- Don't wait until the end to use credits
- Set up workflows to use credits automatically
Use credits before renewal
Week before renewal:- Check your remaining balance
- Run agents you've been postponing
- Process batch optimizations
- Generate content calendars
- Run comprehensive analyses
- Product IQ analysis (50 credits) - Deep insights worth using
- Content optimization batches - Improve multiple products

Set up automated workflows
Workflows ensure consistent credit usage:
- Weekly SEO monitoring

- Bi-weekly content optimization
- Monthly competitor analysis
Automated workflows prevent forgetting to use credits and ensure you get value every month.
Right-size your plan
If you consistently have leftover credits:- You might be on a plan that's too large
- Consider downgrading to save money
- Or find more ways to use ConvertMate
- You need a higher plan or credit packages
- Upgrade to the next tier
- Purchase credit packages for specific needs
Checking your credit balance
To see your current credits:
Top navigation:- Credit count always visible in header
- Updates in real-time as you use credits
- Current balance
- Next renewal date
- Usage this month
- Remaining days until renewal
- Detailed usage history
- Which agents used how many credits
- Daily spending patterns
- Month-to-date total
Credit renewal timing
When credits renew
Monthly subscribers:- Credits renew on the same day each month
- If you signed up on January 15th, renewal is 15th of every month
- If signup date doesn't exist in a month (like 31st), renewal happens on the last day
- Credits still renew monthly
- But you're billed annually (pay once per year)
- Credits reset every month even with annual billing
Renewal notifications
You receive notifications:
- 7 days before renewal (reminder to use remaining credits)
- 1 day before renewal (last chance to use credits)
- On renewal day (confirming new credits available)
Enable these in Settings → Notifications to avoid losing unused credits.
What happens to credits when you change plans
Upgrading mid-month
When you upgrade:
- You immediately get the new plan's full monthly allocation
- Credits from the old plan are replaced (not added)
- Next renewal uses the new billing date or keeps existing date
- You have Starter (300 credits), used 200, have 100 left
- On January 20th, you upgrade to Growth (1,200 credits)
- You immediately get 1,200 credits (the 100 remaining are replaced)
- Next renewal is February 20th with 1,200 credits
Downgrading mid-month
When you downgrade:
- Change takes effect at next billing date (not immediately)
- You keep current plan credits until renewal
- After renewal, you get the lower plan's allocation
- You have Growth (1,200 credits), next renewal February 15th
- On January 20th, you downgrade to Starter
- You keep 1,200-credit allocation until February 15th
- On February 15th, renewal gives you 300 credits (Starter amount)
Canceling subscription
When you cancel:
- You keep current credits until subscription ends
- Use them before end date (they expire with subscription)
- Purchased credit packages remain valid for 12 months
Credit package rollover
Since this is a common question about packages specifically:
Purchased packages:- Valid for 12 months from purchase
- Don't expire monthly like subscription credits
- Survive subscription cancellations
- Can be used after reactivating
- Subscription credits are used first
- Package credits are used after monthly allocation runs out
- This maximizes value from your subscription
Enterprise and custom plans
Enterprise customers can negotiate:
- Custom credit allocations
- Rollover terms
- Annual credit pools
- Flexible expiration policies
Contact sales@convertmate.io to discuss custom credit arrangements.
Alternative: Purchase packages for big projects
If you have a large project coming up and want credits that don't expire monthly:
Purchase credit packages:- 100 credits - $15
- 500 credits - $60
- 1,500 credits - $180
- 5,000 credits - $600
These last 12 months and can be used for special projects without worrying about monthly expiration.
