Connecting Google Search Console to ConvertMate

Step-by-step guide to connect Google Search Console for SEO insights

Last updated: Oct 8, 2025

Connecting Google Search Console to ConvertMate unlocks powerful SEO agents that analyze your search performance, identify keyword opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve your organic traffic.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A verified property in Google Search Console for your website
  • Owner or Full user access to the property
  • At least 3 months of search data (recommended for meaningful insights)
  • An active ConvertMate account

Google Search Console is free, so there's no cost to set it up if you don't have it already.

Why connect Google Search Console

Google Search Console provides data about:

  • Which keywords bring traffic to your site
  • How your pages perform in Google search
  • Click-through rates and average positions
  • Technical SEO issues and opportunities
  • Mobile usability problems
  • Core Web Vitals performance

ConvertMate agents use this data to help you improve rankings, identify content gaps, and optimize for better search performance.

Connection steps

Step 1: Go to connections

  1. Log in to your ConvertMate account
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar
  3. Select Connections from the settings menu
  4. Find Google Search Console in the list of available platforms

Step 2: Start OAuth authorization

  1. Click Connect next to Google Search Console
  2. You'll be redirected to Google's authorization page at accounts.google.com
  3. Select the Google account that has access to your Search Console property
  4. If you're already logged into Google, you'll see the authorization screen immediately

Step 3: Grant permissions

Google will ask to grant ConvertMate permission to:

  • View Search Console data for your verified properties
  • See website performance metrics
  • See technical SEO issues and recommendations

ConvertMate requests read-only access - we cannot make changes to your Search Console configuration or website.

Click Allow to grant these permissions.

Step 4: Select your property

After authorization:

  1. ConvertMate redirects you back with a list of your Search Console properties
  2. Select the property (website) you want to connect
  3. If you have multiple properties, you can connect them one at a time
  4. Click Connect property

Step 5: Wait for initial sync

After selecting your property:

  1. ConvertMate begins syncing your Search Console data
  2. Initial sync takes 5-10 minutes
  3. You'll see a progress indicator
What gets synced:
  • Last 16 months of search performance data
  • Keywords and queries
  • Page performance metrics
  • Geographic data
  • Device breakdown
  • Search appearance features

You can leave the page during sync. You'll get a notification when it completes.

How sync works

After the initial connection:

Daily sync - ConvertMate syncs new Search Console data every 24 hours. Google updates their data with a 1-2 day delay, so there's always a slight lag. Historical data - The first sync pulls 16 months of historical data for trend analysis. Manual sync - You can trigger a manual sync anytime from Settings → Connections. Multiple properties - Each connected property syncs independently.

Using agents after connection

Once Google Search Console is connected, you can run powerful SEO agents. Check the agents library for available Google Search Console agents that analyze content, keywords, pages, and technical SEO.

Troubleshooting connection issues

No properties available to connect

If you don't see any properties after authorization:

  • Verify you have a verified property in Google Search Console
  • Check you used the correct Google account
  • Ensure you have Owner or Full user access (not just Restricted)
  • Try verifying your property in Search Console first
  • Wait a few minutes and refresh - new properties can take time to appear

Authorization failed

If Google authorization fails:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Try in an incognito/private window
  • Disable browser extensions temporarily
  • Make sure you're using a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
  • Try a different browser if issues persist

Data not syncing

If connected but no data appears:

  • Check that your property has data in Google Search Console
  • Verify your site has been indexed by Google
  • Wait 24 hours after connecting for first sync to complete
  • Properties with very little traffic may have limited data
  • Try clicking Sync now in Settings → Connections

Connection keeps disconnecting

If you need to reconnect frequently:

  • Google OAuth tokens can expire after extended periods
  • Changing your Google password invalidates tokens
  • Click Reconnect to refresh the authorization
  • Consider enabling 2-factor authentication on your Google account

Working with multiple properties

If you have multiple websites:

Connect each property separately - Each Search Console property needs its own connection. Domain properties - If you use a domain property (combining http, https, www, non-www), connect the domain property, not individual URL prefixes. Property types:
  • Domain property: Recommended - combines all versions of your site
  • URL prefix property: Connects specific URL version

Choose domain properties when available for complete data.
